Nine four-part hymns, ready for congregational singing.
Singing from a hymnal can be like holding a torch.
It can begin unexpectedly—at any unplanned moment. Someone begins singing or humming one of the classic hymns. Specific people readily come to mind when thinking of the great hymns. I often picture a particular person singing at a church meeting.
The treasured hymns leave a deep impression on the young. How many times it is said, "My mother would sing that hymn while working around the house," or "That was my dad's favorite song." They wear well.
Hearing enthusiastic singing of a classic hymn can be a very memorable experience for children. Mind how you sing during the meetings...A young child may be listening, and you may have just passed the torch.
