This rare and uniquely American music continues to garner praise and admiration the world over. Many spirituals functioned as coded messages to announce the departure of the next "train" along "The Underground Railroad." Others were songs of simple faith in a caring God who would soon facilitate the release of human beings from the cruel bondage of slavery. The great anthem Lift Every Voice and Sing adequately sums up the journey toward freedom of the soul.

Thanks to commissions from renowned organist and mentor Dr. Marilyn Mason, we have addressed two previous volumes to the "King of Instruments." Five Spirituals for Organ and Spiritual Suite for Organ. It is our hope that Spiritual Meditations for Organ  will carry forward the joyful privilege of sharing this immensely great art form to lovers of music everywhere.
